Not that I want to troubleshoot that problem, just another example of my home theater PC being family unfriendly when it doesn't work.Įither way, I believe the shield pro 2019 is good enough to replace my home theater PC / madVR setup. So maybe it's a good goofy thing with AMD drivers. And I had two different video cards but both were AMD. It's an Onkyo and it used to do the same thing with my Denon. Unplugged the HDMI cable from the receiver after the reboot and that worked. Had to reboot the machine but that wasn't good enough. The solution? Usually unplugging the HDMI cable solves that problem. Because I went to use the PC today for this comparison and the audio wouldn't work. ![]() I'm not even tempted to take screenshots for a truly accurate comparison. ![]() But if you do not plan on anything other than streaming then go for the tube. Honestly you can throw a external hard drive on the thing and serve the rest of your devices with media whether you use emby or plex. It's like some areas of the screen get more enhancement versus other areas that may be in the foreground or not even in focus.Īgain, caveats is not a true 4K projector, and I use my 4K camera on my phone. Plus since you have a 4k TV the AI upscaling is good. Meaning AI upscaling is not applied to the entire screen in the same amount. Cuz I've used it on other films using the demo mode and toggling back and forth And it seems like nvidia is focused on certain areas of the image. That could be just the very nature of the AI upscaling. But her shield (I guess I would describe them as emblems on the outer edge of the shield) had more edge detail in the madVR upscale. ![]() Long story short, the detail in the crown in my case was indistinguishable. it's a good shot because it's a fairly good close-up of Wonder woman's face a crown and her shield. I used the Wonder woman Blu-ray rip, bit for bit. Overall I would say madVR is slightly better at the upscaling 1080p to 4K. not the default of medium, because I like the effect of high and I'm not really seeing artifacts, but I know they must exist. I used the Nvidia AI upscaling set to High. Chroma is not that important in this case so who cares. And my projector is an RS420 e-shift FauxK. ![]() So I used my S9 Plus to take pictures 4032 x 2268. I wanted to do a quick test so I did not use screenshots.
